There are typically two types of companies that businesses need to engage to procure IT services. The first one is called a Value Added Reseller (VAR). A VAR earns revenue by purchasing hardware/software, marking it up a percentage and reselling to you. VARs align to CAPEX models. The second is an IT Agent or Broker. IT Agents realize revenue by being paid a commission directly from IT service providers that the agent has referred business. IT Agents align to OPEX models.
